While President Obama’s supporters hailed his withdrawal of U.S. troops from Iraq as the end of the war in the middle east, behind the scenes the Pentagon has been quietly massing troops and armaments on two islands located just south of the Strait of Hormuz, and within easy striking distance of Iran.

In addition to some 50,000 U.S. troops currently in the region waiting for orders (apparently they won’t be home by this past Christmas as was originally promised), Nobel Peace Prize winner President Barack Obama is deploying an additional 50,000 soldiers to be ready for ‘any contingency’ by March:

President Barack Obama is reported exclusively by DEBKA-Net-Weekly’s military and Washington sources to have secretly ordered US air, naval and marine forces to build up heavy concentrations on two strategic islands –Socotra, which is part of a Yemeni archipelago in the Indian Ocean, and the Omani island of Masirah at the southern exit of the Strait of Hormuz.

Since 2010, the US has been quietly building giant air force and naval bases on Socotra with facilities for submarines, intelligence command centers and take-off pads for flying stealth drones, as part of a linked chain of strategic US military facilities in the Indian Ocean and Persian Gulf.

The Socotra facilities are so secret that they are never mentioned in any catalogue listing US military facilities in this part of the world, which include Jebel Ali and Al Dahfra in the United Arab Emirates; Arifjan in Kuwait; and Al Udeid in Qatar – all within short flying distances from Iran.

Additional US forces are also being poured into Camp Justice on the barren, 70-kilometer long Omani island of Masirah, just south of the Hormuz entry point to the Gulf of Oman from the Arabian Sea.

Western military sources familiar with the American buildup on the two strategic islands tell DEBKA-Net-Weekly that, although they cannot cite precise figures, they are witnessing the heaviest American concentration of might in the region since the US invaded Iraq in 2003.

Then, 100,000 American troops were massed in Kuwait ahead of the invasion. Today, those sources estimate from the current pace of arrivals on the two island bases, that 50,000 US troops will have accumulated on Socotra and Masirah by mid-February. They will top up the 50,000 military already present in the Persian Gulf region, so that in less than a month, Washington will have some 100,000 military personnel on the spot and available for any contingency.

US air transports are described as making almost daily landings on Socotra and Masirah. They fly in from the US naval base of Diego Garcia, one of America’s biggest military facilities, just over 3,000 kilometers away. The US military presence in the region will further expand in the first week of March when three US aircraft carriers and their strike groups plus a French carrier arrive in the Persian Gulf, the Gulf of Oman and the Arabian Sea: They are theUSS Abraham LincolnUSS Carl VinsonUSS Enterprise and the Charles de Gaulle nuclear-powered aircraft carrier.

A fourth US carrier will be standing by in the Pacific Ocean, a few days’ sailing time from the water off Iran’s coast.

Still holding out hope that we won’t go to war with Iran?

There’s already reason enough for the powers-to-be to invade Iran based on the accusations that they are in the process of manufacturing nuclear weapons. Whether true or not makes no difference, as we saw with weapons of mass destruction that have yet to be found in Iraq.

Similarly, like Saddam Hussein before them, Iran’s leadership is attempting to trade their oil without going through the proper channels – in essence attempting to bypass the United States and Europe by striking deals with China, India, and Russia that will not require the exchange of oil for US dollars, but rather, Yuan, Rupees and Gold.

It may very well be that nuclear weapons, like WMD in Iraq, are simply the pretext, rather than the real reason, that will be used to crush those who oppose the financiers, politicians and influencers behind the new world order paradigm.

Make no mistake: this is serious business. They will kill as many as is needed (on our side and theirs) in order to push the agenda forward.

This is what happens when you mess with the men behind the curtains:

  • Mobile phone could diagnose a range of diseases including cancer and diabetes
  • Scientists believe technology could save billions in healthcare costs
Breakthrough: South Korean scientists have developed new technology which they believe could result in smartphones - such as an iPhone - being able to diagnose diseasesBreakthrough: South Korean scientists have developed new technology which they believe could result in smartphones – such as an iPhone – being able to diagnose diseases

When we are feeling under the weather a visit to the doctors’ surgery or hospital is a necessary evil to find out what is wrong with us.

But, if a team of scientists have their way, we may soon be able to get a diagnosis for our illnesses simply by using a mobile phone from the comfort of the armchair.

Backed by government funding, South Korean scientists have developed new mobile-phone technology designed to diagnose disease.

Incredibly, this could result in instant diagnosis’ for illnesses from just a droplet of blood or saliva on a Smartphone’s touchscreen.

And those behind the revolutionary technology say the recognition rate is almost 100 per cent accurate and as effective as conventional medical equipment.

The technology was developed on the basis of the touchscreen’s capacity to detect the minute electrical signals generated by a fingertip’s touch.

That ability is called ‘capacitive sensitivity’.

A team at the Korea Advanced Institute of Science and Technology said when its technology is commercialised, it will revolutionise diagnostic medicine around the world.

Professor Park Hyun-Gyu says his team’s research will enable mobile phones to diagnose a range of diseases from cancer to diabetes.

He said biomolecules, like those produced by diseases, transmit similar signals that a touchscreen can recognise.

Mr Hyun-Gyu said: ‘If you have a certain type of DNA or proteins, the touchscreen would react in the same way as a finger’s electrical signal is detected.’

Excited: Professor Park Hyun-Gyu is one of those working on the new smartphone technology
Cautious: Researcher Won Byoung-Yeon says more work needs to be done before the technology to diagnose illnesses on smartphones can be perfected

Breakthrough: Professor Park Hyun-Gyu, left, and researcher Won Byoung-Yeon are two of the scientists working on the new smartphone technology

The team believe they are the first to demonstrate that a touchscreen can be used to detect biomolecules.

But researcher Won Byoung-Yeon says more work needs to be done before the technology is perfected.

He said: ‘Currently, we’ve reached the level where we can detect certain biomolecules’ existence or concentration, but we can’t define what the biomolecule is.

‘Therefore, we’re producing a film covered in a substance which can selectively react to certain biomolecules so that we can determine what those biomolecules are.’

Once it’s moved beyond the laboratory, the team believes the technology could transform diagnostic techniques, and save billions in healthcare costs.

It could be applied to inexpensively diagnose diseases in environments like nursing homes or mobile clinics, and radically reduce the necessity and expense of sending samples to a lab for testing.

The International telecommunications Union says billions of people use mobile phones around the world every day.

The idea of exposing their touchscreens to saliva or blood samples may not appeal to many, but according to Mr Hyun-Gyu’s team the practice will one day save time, money and lives.

  • Miniature EEG scanners now fit in helmet
  • Can ‘read’ electrical activity in the brain
  • Monitor pilots for signs of sleep – or panic

Pilots’ brains will soon be remotely monitored to see if they are in control using brain scanners built into their helmets.

Military commanders will be able to see if a pilot is not responding to a warning light and take over the plane if they are about to crash.

The advanced sensors – in the pilot’s helmet – could also give an indication if they have gone unconscious and allow base control to step in.

Fighter pilot helmets could soon include miniaturised EEG brain scanners which would monitor a pilot's state of mind while at the controlsFighter pilot helmets could soon include miniaturised EEG brain scanners which would monitor a pilot’s state of mind while at the controls

The development has been possible thanks to a breakthrough in electroencephalographic (EEG) brain monitoring technology.

Until now the process involved test subjects wearing a heavy cap with lots of wires attached to it in order to be scanned.

Users also had to stay still as movement of parts of the face could interfere with the signal.

The new developments were lead by Scott Makeig, director of the University of California, San Diego’s Swartz Centre for Computational Neuroscience.

He said that his headset weighs around 3.5kilograms and the machinery is still quite heavy, but light enough to transport.

Now the sensors are controlled over a wireless Internet connection and are much more precise because they use better algorithms.

Livescience reported that the difference was ‘akin to listening to a single speaker’s voice in a crowded room’ as opposed to all the noises.

Child undergoing an EEG brain scan: Previous generations of the technology were cumbersome and too unwieldy to be worn - but the idea of brain scanning helmets is no longer far-fetchedChild undergoing an EEG brain scan: Previous generations of the technology were cumbersome and too unwieldy to be worn – but the idea of brain scanning helmets is no longer far-fetched

EEG does not read minds but instead monitors the electrical fields that are created by nerves in the brain.

It was first used to monitor brain waves in 1926 but has advanced so much it is now being used in computer games, such as a headset from San Francisco technology company Emotiv.

It is also used in the Star Wars toys Mindflex by Mattel and Uncle Milton’s Force Trainer, which let would-be Jedi practice their light sabre technique just like Luke Skywalker does in the films.

In tests, he and his team have attached it to a jogger on a treadmill and successfully scanned his brain using a wireless Internet connection.

They are still however using conductive gel on the helmet which is something that Emotiv has got around, although it uses fewer electrodes.

Makeig said that what had been developed so far is just the ‘tip of the iceberg’.

  • The Sea Ceptor can protect a 500sq mile area of land or sea
  • The five year £483m project is expected to create 500 jobs

The Royal Navy has revealed details of a new air defence system capable of destroying enemy missiles travelling at supersonic speeds.

Sea Ceptor missiles fired from Navy warships will reach speeds of up to Mach 3 and can protect an area of around 500 sq miles over land or sea.

The £483 million contract to develop the cutting-edge missile defence system has been awarded to MBDA (UK).

The Ministry of Defence said the five-year project would sustain around 500 jobs in MBDA and its supply chain in facilities across the UK including at Stevenage in Hertfordshire, Filton in South Gloucestershire and Lostock in Bolton.

Sea Ceptor will initially be used on the Navy’s Type 23 frigates, but in the future it could be adapted for use by the Army and RAF.

Defence Equipment Minister Peter Luff said: ‘The development of this missile system is a huge boost to the UK’s world-leading missile industry and once again proves our commitment to providing battle-winning technology to our armed forces.’

The head of the Navy, Admiral Sir Mark Stanhope, added: ‘This new weapon system will equip our frigates to deal with the type of sophisticated missile threat expected in the coming decades.

‘Investment in advanced defence technology, such as Sea Ceptor, is vital to ensure the Royal Navy’s continued ability to defend the UK’s interests wherever necessary.’

In a sky filled with bright stars, this image appears to show a massive black hole in its centre.

But, rather than being a genuine black hle, the eerily dark ‘hole’ in this photograph is a cloud of matter -  known to astronomers as a dark molecular cloud – which blocks all light from passing through it. In infrared images, though, it becomes transparent (below).

The interiors of molecular clouds are some of the coldest and most isolated places in the universe.

Eerie: Rather than being a massive vacuum in the universe, the eerily dark 'hole' is known to astronomers as a dark molecular cloudEerie: Rather than being a massive vacuum in the universe, the eerily dark ‘hole’ is known to astronomers as a dark molecular cloud

The bizarre sight is formed due to a high concentration of dust and molecular gas absorbing practically all the visible light emitted from background stars.

Pictured is Barnard 68, which is one of the most notable molecular clouds and is towards the constellation Ophiuchus.

Astronomers say because no stars are visible, this indicates that Barnard 68 is relatively nearby.

But this is still about 500 light-years away and half a light-year across. It is not known exactly how molecular clouds like Barnard 68 form.

But scientists do know that these clouds are themselves likely places for new stars to form.

In fact, Barnard 68 itself has been found likely to collapse and form a new star system.

In infrared light, it is also possible to look right through the cloud.

2011 WAS THE NINTH WARMEST YEAR ON RECORD – NASA REVEALS

2011 was the ninth warmest year on record, NASA has announced.

The space agency recently released a video which shows global temperature changes since 1880.

And in a sign of how the planet is warming up, nine of the 10 warmest years on record have occurred since 2000.

The average temperature for the world last year was 0.92 degrees Fahrenheit warmer than the mid-20th century baseline period of 1951 to 1980.

According to The Huffington Post, James E. Hansen, director of NASA’s Goddard Institute for Space Studies in New York, said, ‘We know the planet is absorbing more energy than it is emitting.

‘So we are continuing to see a trend toward higher temperatures. Even with the cooling effects of a strong La Niña influence and low solar activity for the past several years, 2011 was one of the 10 warmest years on record.’

Devices could help doctors with stored medical information

Medical milestone or privacy invasion? A tiny computer chip approved Wednesday for implantation in a patient’s arm can speed vital information about a patient’s medical history to doctors and hospitals. But critics warn that it could open new ways to imperil the confidentiality of medical records.

The Food and Drug Administration said Wednesday that Applied Digital Solutions of Delray Beach, Fla., could market the VeriChip, an implantable computer chip about the size of a grain of rice, for medical purposes.

With the pinch of a syringe, the microchip is inserted under the skin in a procedure that takes less than 20 minutes and leaves no stitches. Silently and invisibly, the dormant chip stores a code that releases patient-specific information when a scanner passes over it.

Think UPC code. The identifier, emblazoned on a food item, brings up its name and price on the cashier’s screen.

Chip’s dual uses raise alarm
The VeriChip itself contains no medical records, just codes that can be scanned, and revealed, in a doctor’s office or hospital. With that code, the health providers can unlock that portion of a secure database that holds that person’s medical information, including allergies and prior treatment. The electronic database, not the chip, would be updated with each medical visit.

The microchips have already been implanted in 1 million pets. But the chip’s possible dual use for tracking people’s movements — as well as speeding delivery of their medical information to emergency rooms — has raised alarm.

“If privacy protections aren’t built in at the outset, there could be harmful consequences for patients,” said Emily Stewart, a policy analyst at the Health Privacy Project.

To protect patient privacy, the devices should reveal only vital medical information, like blood type and allergic reactions, needed for health care workers to do their jobs, Stewart said.

An information technology guru at Detroit Medical Center, however, sees the benefits of the devices and will lobby for his center’s inclusion in a VeriChip pilot program.

“One of the big problems in health care has been the medical records situation. So much of it is still on paper,” said David Ellis, the center’s chief futurist and co-founder of the Michigan Electronic Medical Records Initiative.

‘Part of the future of medicine’
As “medically mobile” patients visit specialists for care, their records fragment on computer systems that don’t talk to each other.

“It’s part of the future of medicine to have these kinds of technologies that make life simpler for the patient,” Ellis said. Pushing for the strongest encryption algorithms to ensure hackers can’t nab medical data as information transfers from chip to reader to secure database, will help address privacy concerns, he said.

The U.S. Department of Health and Human Services on Wednesday announced $139 million in grants to help make real President Bush’s push for electronic health records for most Americans within a decade.

William A. Pierce, an HHS spokesman, could not say whether VeriChip and its accompanying secure database of medical records fit within that initiative.

“Exactly what those technologies are is still to be sorted out,” Pierce said. “It all has to respect and comport with the privacy rules.”

Applied Digital gave away scanners to a few hundred animal shelters and veterinary clinics when it first entered the pet market 15 years ago. Now, 50,000 such scanners have been sold.

To kickstart the chip’s use among humans, Applied Digital will provide $650 scanners for free at 200 of the nation’s trauma centers.

Implantation costs $150 to $200
In pets, installing the chip runs about $50. For humans, the chip implantation cost would be $150 to $200, said Angela Fulcher, an Applied Digital spokeswoman.

Fulcher could not say whether the cost of data storage and encrypted transmission of medical information would be passed to providers.

Because the VeriChip is invisible, it’s also unclear how health care workers would know which unconscious patients to scan. Company officials say if the chip use becomes routine, scanning triceps for hidden chips would become second nature at hospitals.

Ultimately, the company hopes patients who suffer from such ailments as diabetes and Alzheimer’s or who undergo complex treatments, like chemotherapy, would have chips implanted. If the procedure proves as popular for use in humans as in pets, that could mean up to 1 million chips implanted in people. So far, just 1,000 people across the globe have had the devices implanted, very few of them in the United States.

The company’s chief executive officer, Scott R. Silverman, is one of a half dozen executives who had chips implanted. Silverman said chips implanted for medical uses could also be used for security purposes, like tracking employee movement through nuclear power plants.

Such security uses are rare in the United States.

Meanwhile, the chip has been used for pure whimsy: Club hoppers in Barcelona, Spain, now use the microchip to enter a VIP area and, through links to a different database, speed payment much like a smartcard.

Massive US Troop Movements In California Raise Russian Concerns

A disturbing report prepared by the Ministry of Defense circulating in the Kremlin today states that Russian Military Officials were rebuffed by NATO yesterday after questions were raised regarding massive troop and war equipment movements in the United States region of California and said to involve over 78,000 soldiers from various countries.

Reports coming in from the United States verify these extraordinary troop movements are currently underway with videos showing massive amounts of tanks and other war equipment being brought into the California region by train near Santa Cruz [see video HERE] and Morgon Hill [see video HERE] along with reports detailing that areas of Los Angeles were cordoned off this week for secret military exercises.

Important to note, this report says, is that even though Russia had withdrawn in 2007 from the Treaty on Conventional Armed Forces in Europe (CFE) it was still able to get explanations for the transferring and movement of Western European and American troops from the United Kingdom under a separate agreement, but which was suspended without notice or explanation by the British government this past 25 November 2011.

Concerns over the military movements of the Western Powers, this report continues, are due to the United States and its European allies accounting for nearly three-quarters of the entire amount spent on armed troops and equipment in the entire world and that over the past decade have unleashed wars in various parts of the globe which they show no signs of stopping.

Russian military intelligence analysis of the camouflage pattern indentified on the thousands of military vehicles and tanks flooding into the California region [see both videos linked above] note that it is a variant of the MARPAT woodland pattern designed for use by US Marine Forces intended for use in urban environments located in temperate zones or tropical areas, but most certainly is not one used in any of Americas current war theaters of operation.

Analysis as to why these troops are currently massing in California, this report says, could involve any number of scenarios including: 1.) A planned US-EU invasion of either Mexico or a South American nation. 2.) Preparations to put down large scale rioting erupting in the United States. 3.) Preparations to assist the civilian population in the aftermath of a catastrophe caused by war or natural disaster.

Russian military analysts in this report note that Mexico could be a “prime target” for US-European military action as its Drug War which began in 2006 has claimed nearly 48,000 lives and during this pivotal election year is now threatened with disintegration as its drug cartels now have more power than the government.

Another analysis in this report notes the United States growing anger at both oil rich Venezuela and Brazil whose left-leaning governments are becoming increasingly opposed to American-European domination and increasingly siding with China and Iran against the West. Important to note in this scenario are that war concerns in Brazil have increased to the point that many are now calling for Brazilians to begin preparing to crush an expected American invasion.

As to the likelihood that these forces massing in California will be used to put down internal dissent appears to have strong validity due to many experts analysis, including Obama regime backer and billionaire George Soros who this week warned that a violent class-war is about to erupt in the United States and stating, “The situation is about as serious and difficult as I’ve experienced in my career.” Important to note in this scenario is that United States crackdown on protesters has become so violent that the international association known as Reporters Without Borders downgraded press freedom in America to 47th this week, an astounding fall of 27 places for a country that claims it has the most freedom in the world.

To if these troops massing in California are to be used in the event of a catastrophe we had noted in our previous report, Megaquake Warning Issued For US-Mexican Pacific Coast, that there is, indeed, a growing concern among Russian experts this region may be about to experience a devastating earthquake.

In our world today where the Obama regime has called for more of its troops to be deployed to the Philippines to counter China, has ordered 15,000 more of its troops to Kuwait in preparation for a war with an Iranian nation that is itself “preparing for Armageddon,” these strange and massive troop movements in California do raise a number of concerns, but which without the American people themselves demanding to know what is going on will, as always, leave these poor souls at the mercy of the tyrants who rule over them.

And to how truly barbaric the United States has become, one need look no further than Tariq Aziz, a 16-year-old Pakistani boy who offered to collect information on US drone strikes killing innocent civilians if it would help protect his family, but within 72 hours of making his offer was assassinated by the Americans along with his 12-year-old brother when the car he was travelling in was blown up by a missile fired by a drone.

If even children are now considered enemies by the new “god” Obama who now rules completely over “Battlefield Earth,” one must surely ask themselves what chances anyone has anymore… May the Lord have mercy upon us all.

FEMA CAMPS EXPOSED: Alex Jones presents newly exposed footage filmed at LAX airport in Los Angeles confirming a ‘rendition hub’ capable of processing thousands of people per hour from straight off the tarmac and other transportation points.

Further, Alex dredges up video clips of other facilities used in the past for mass containment of dissenters- from Pier 57 in New York City used to detain those rounded-up during mass arrests at the 2004 Republican National Convention to the former Mueller Airport facility in Austin which news clips exposed had been converted to hold mass arrestees to the Sand Point Naval Station in Seattle used for 1999 WTO protesters.

  • One solar system with sun older than ours has five planets
  • Find doubles the number of confirmed Kepler planets
  • Discovery leads Nasa scientists to say galaxy is ‘positively loaded with planets of all sizes’
  • One sun older than ours has five planets
  • Technique used could speed up space telescope’s hunt for planets

NASA’s Kepler space telescope has discovered 11 new planetary systems hosting 26 confirmed planets.

It’s the latest find from a two-year space scan, and brings the total to 60 confirmed planets. The new haul triples the number of multi-planet solar systems found by Kepler.

Doug Hudgins, a Kepler scientist at Nasa says, ‘In just two years staring at a patch of sky not much bigger than your fist, Kepler has discovered more than 60 planets. Our galaxy is positively loaded with planets of all sizes and orbits.’

Diagrams of the multi-planet systems detected by Kepler: The planets range in size from 1.5 times the size of Earth to ones bigger than the gas giant JupiterDiagrams of the multi-planet systems detected by the Kepler space telescope: The planets range in size from 1.5 times the size of Earth to ones bigger than the gas giant Jupiter

The planets orbit close to their host stars and range in size from 1.5 times the radius of Earth to larger than Jupiter. Fifteen are between Earth and Neptune in size.

Further observations will be required to determine which are rocky like Earth and which have thick gaseous atmospheres like Neptune.

All the new planets are closer to their host star than Venus is to our Sun.

Kepler-33, a star that is older and more massive than our Sun, had the most planets. The system hosts five planets, ranging in size from 1.5 to 5 times that of Earth.

‘Prior to the Kepler mission, we knew of perhaps 500 exoplanets across the whole sky,’ said Doug Hudgins, Kepler program scientist at NASA Headquarters in Washington.

Kepler identifies planet candidates by repeatedly measuring the change in brightness of stars to detect when a planet passes in front of the star. That passage casts a small shadow toward Earth and the Kepler spacecraft.

The planets were detected by monitoring changes in brightness as they orbit in front of their stars. Scientists will now try to establish whether they are rocky, like earth, or gaseous, like NeptuneThe planets were detected by monitoring changes in brightness as they orbit in front of their stars. Scientists will now try to establish whether they are rocky, like earth, or gaseous, like Neptune

Each of the new confirmed planetary systems contains two to five closely spaced transiting planets. In tightly packed planetary systems, the gravitational pull of the planets on each other causes some planets to accelerate and some to decelerate along their orbits.
Kepler detects this effect by measuring the changes, or so-called Transit Timing Variations (TTVs).

Planetary systems with TTVs can be verified without requiring extensive ground-based observations, accelerating confirmation of planet candidates. The TTV detection technique also increases Kepler’s ability to confirm planetary systems around fainter and more distant stars.

Five of the systems (Kepler-25, Kepler-27, Kepler-30, Kepler-31 and Kepler-33) contain a pair of planets where the inner planet orbits the star twice during each orbit of the outer planet.

Four of the systems (Kepler-23, Kepler-24, Kepler-28 and Kepler-32) contain a pairing where the outer planet circles the star twice for every three times the inner planet orbits its star.
The properties of a star provide clues for planet detection. The decrease in the star’s brightness and duration of a planet transit, combined with the properties of its host star, present a recognizable signature. When astronomers detect planet candidates that exhibit similar signatures around the same star, the likelihood of any of these planet candidates being a false positive is very low.

‘The approach used to verify the Kepler-33 planets shows the overall reliability is quite high,’ said Jack Lissauer, planetary scientist at NASA Ames Research Center at Moffett Field, Calif., and lead author of the paper on Kepler-33.

These discoveries are published in four different papers in the Astrophysical Journal and the Monthly Notices of the Royal Astronomical Society.

He once claimed he’s the Son of God and the world is run by alien lizards, but the story of David Icke’s marriage breakdown is almost as weird

The audience at the theatre in Times Square, New York, sat in reverential silence as David Icke took the stage and made his great revelation.

Our planet, he declared, is secretly ruled by a race of reptile-like aliens.

These reptiles, malevolent in nature, sometimes ‘shape-shift’ into human form. The Queen, for example, is a reptilian, President Barack Obama another.

Bonkers, yes. But Icke’s show in November, with tickets costing $50 (£32) a head, was a sell-out, as have been most of the other dates on his world tour, which ends in Britain later this year.

One of the reasons Pamela Leigh Richards split up with David Icke, according to her, is that he became suspicious that she is a shape-shifting alienOne of the reasons Pamela Leigh Richards split up with David Icke, according to her, is that he became suspicious that she is a shape-shifting alien

Wherever he goes, thousands flock to see him. Twenty years after the famous TV interview on Wogan, when the once-respected sports commentator became a national laughing stock for saying he was the Son of God, Icke’s brand of loopiness has proved more resilient and lucrative than anyone could have guessed.

But there is one thing Icke has not yet talked about on his tour — and he does go on rather, sometimes for eight hours at a time — and that is the increasingly bitter divorce battle he is embroiled in with his second wife, Pamela Leigh Richards.

Or that one of the reasons they split up, according to Pamela, is that he became suspicious that she is a shape-shifting alien.

‘He can’t figure me out — he thinks I might be a reptilian,’ says Pamela.

‘Of course, I’m not. David and I had a deep connection, we were meant to be together, but he turned against me. I’ve been through utter bewilderment, pain, sorrow and heartbreak.’

So presumably Pamela thinks her husband is crazy, a fraud or is enjoying a great joke at the expense of gullible conspiracy theorists? Well, actually no.

Pamela — in all other respects an intelligent and articulate woman — also believes sinister forces lurk in dark corners.

So much so, that during the 11 years they spent together, she devotedly accompanied Icke on his travels, spreading the word.

'David and I had a deep connection, we were meant to be together, but he turned against me,' said Pamela ‘David and I had a deep connection, we were meant to be together, but he turned against me,’ said Pamela

Every marriage is unique, but surely there is none to match the barminess of the union between David Icke and Pamela Leigh Richards.

Pamela, 52, and the mother of a 24-year-old daughter from a previous marriage, met Icke in Jamaica in August 1997. It was six years after the interview on Wogan and Icke was still a national joke in Britain.

Pamela, the daughter of an American fighter pilot, worked in financial services and was attending a conference on the island. Icke was giving one of his talks at the same hotel and Pamela was intrigued enough to attend — and was mesmerised by what she heard.

‘You could have heard a pin drop when David spoke. I came away with the knowledge that the world is not what I thought it was and I learned about its reptilian aspect.

‘I went up to David afterwards to thank him, but at that time I was not romantically attracted to him.’

Three months later, they met on the Caribbean island of Aruba, where Icke was giving another talk at a conference and Pamela was on another business trip.

This encounter was, apparently, even more auspicious. Before his trip, Icke had visited a psychic who told him he was going to meet a lady from America who would ask him out to dinner and with whom he would be joined at the hip. She would be wearing a mauve gown.

Pamela says she was that person (and never mind that the dress she was wearing was yellow).

‘The day before the talk, we passed each other by the pool of the hotel where he was speaking and we were both staying. He stopped and said hello,’ says Pamela.

‘We talked for a while and I could feel a strong connection beginning.

‘Later, when we got together, he told me he stopped because he thought: “Oh My God, this could be The One.”

‘The following day I saw him again and invited him to dinner with a few friends. Afterwards we walked along the pier and sat at the end of the walkway. ‘It was there that being joined at the hip and inseparable became as real as it gets.’

Icke had once predicted that the world would end in 1997, and was no doubt mightily relieved that his prediction did not come true, allowing him to pursue Pamela.

It was not imminent Armageddon but his own unusual domestic arrangements that provided the backdrop to his new romance.

For Icke was still married and living with his first wife, Linda, and their three children at the family home in Ryde on the Isle of Wight.

To make matters trickier, another woman, Deborah Shaw, had moved into the marital home in 1990.

It was reported that David, Linda and Deborah had a menage a trois for a while, but that Linda kicked out Deborah when she became pregnant with a daughter, Rebecca, by Icke.

Yet none of this seemingly troubled his new American girlfriend.

‘David told me all about Linda  and said that though he still lived at the family home, it was all over between them.’

So for two years, Pamela ‘commuted’ from her home in Phoenix, Arizona, to the Isle of Wight to be with Icke before moving permanently to the island.

You might imagine Icke’s wife might have harboured some, er, ‘negative thought patterns’ towards the attractive new blonde in her husband’s life, but Pamela says that was not the case. At least, not initially.

‘She was very kind to me at the beginning and even helped David and I find a flat.’

When Linda and David finally divorced, it wasn’t long before a new Mrs Icke had filled the vacancy.

On September 20, 2001, nine days after 9/11 — the lizards blew up the Twin Towers, according to Icke — Pamela and Icke were married in a simple ceremony at Newport county court on the Isle of Wight.

The wedding was attended by Icke’s three children from his marriage to Linda — his daughter Kerry and sons Jaymie and Gareth — and the wedding reception was in a local pub.

The pair settled happily enough into married life in Ryde, with Pamela remaining ever supportive of Icke’s increasingly bizarre theories — among them that Princess Diana was assassinated by a New World Order and that the Moon was constructed by aliens.

Yet when Icke wasn’t working on his conspiracy theories, he and Pamela led rather a conventional life, weirdly at odds with his dramatic pronouncements.

Often, they would stay in and watch TV — her husband’s favourite programmes were The Vicar of Dibley and Only Fools And Horses.

Icke’s other great passion, apart from saving mankind, is steam trains, and together the couple visited steam railways across Britain. Oh, and they also went hiking with his first wife, who remained his business manager.

‘The three of us got along very well,’ says Pamela.

‘David has a connection with Linda through his children. He is great company and has a really good sense of humour. I used to tell him he should become a stand-up comedian.’

Things started to go wrong in 2006 when Icke decided to restructure his expanding business ventures.

‘I had set up David’s website and got the whole thing going, but it was agreed I’d transfer my duties to his daughter Kerry,’ says Pamela.

‘We had a meeting with Linda and we agreed how money made from the business would be split.

‘I could tell Linda was getting upset about what was being discussed. The thing was, she had always been responsible for the business side of things and I don’t think she liked the new set-up.’

Tensions increased, she says, when a psychic whom Icke had consulted for advice began influencing him against Pamela.

‘She was crucial to what has happened. She told David I was out to take his business and separate him from his children. Everyone was against me — I was the target.’

To make matters worse, Pamela says Icke became suspicious that she was showing reptilian tendencies.

‘He’d say accusingly: “Your face has changed, you look different.” ’

Pamela says the fact that her father was a fighter pilot and she had grown up on air bases — Icke suspects the military to be under the control of reptilian forces — will have fuelled her husband’s fears.

Yet despite their deteriorating relationship, Pamela says she was still shocked when she learned, in typically unconventional style, that Icke wanted her out of his life.

‘We were on tour — in Vancouver, I think — when the driver said to me out of the blue: “David wants you to go.” I was so shocked I felt as though I was having heart palpitations. There was no reason for it.

‘When we got to our hotel, my bag was chucked into the car — David had thrown my clothes into the bag.

‘The driver took me to the airport and I flew to Phoenix, where I stayed in the apartment I’d kept on, until David came some days later to get me. It happened several times — David just could not make up his mind.’

With the marriage under increasing strain, Pamela took off to Egypt for six months in 2007.

‘I was being hit by what I would call aggressive and attacking “thought forms,”’ she says.

‘There was fear all around. My heart and energy field was being crushed.’

When she returned to Icke in Ryde, they hoped they could work things out, but the rows became worse.

After a final argument in February 2008, she fled the marital home and moved back to Arizona.

‘Before I left, I was on my knees, crying, so exhausted from it all I couldn’t move. I said: “It’s over, I’ve got to go.”

‘When I walked out of the door I turned round and he was at the window, watching me.

‘He didn’t want me to go. Even then, he thought it could work between us. How could something so powerful end?’

That year, Icke filed for divorce, citing ‘irreconcilable differences’.

For the past three years, he and Pamela have been battling over the financial details of their divorce.

They have spoken only once, in January 2010, after Pamela suffered a fall and sustained a serious brain injury.

She says her lawyer has instructed her not to disclose the size of the settlement she is seeking, but it is likely that Icke is a rich man.

His tour is a success, he has written 18 books, published in 20 countries and sells DVDs of his performances.

‘David is drawing this out, we can’t agree over the finances. He is controlling and angry — he has issues.’

David Icke did not respond to requests for a comment, but in an online blog one of his friends has written about the divorce battle between him and Pamela.

She says Pamela is demanding ‘immense amounts of money’ from her husband and that his first wife, Linda, and his children have been supportive of him.

Pamela, meanwhile, says she just wants to get on with her life.

‘I have learned that no matter how kind you can be to someone, or how loving you are to someone, if they choose to remain holding on to their own emotional stuff, you must love them and leave them.

‘I am unattached emotionally, though I care for him. I have always been an extreme optimist and peace is my desire. I just want the divorce settled so I can move on.’

Last night, Mr Icke rejected the allegations made against him by Pamela and refuted her version of events.

He pointed out that she had not made any allegations until it seemed money had become an issue for her.
