The decision by the Vatican to grant diplomatic recognition to the state of Palestine has reignited speculation in the biblical end-time prophecy blogosphere about supposed evidence identifying Pope Francis as the end-time “False Prophet” and the Vatican as the “Babylon the Great, Mother of Harlots” described in the Book of Revelation.

Many biblical evangelical end-time pundits are saying that the move by the Holy See to grant diplomatic recognition to the state of Palestine gives support to longstanding speculation that the Catholic Church is the “Great Harlot” described prophetically in the Revelation 17: 15-17.

“And upon her forehead was a name written, MYSTERY, BABYLON THE GREAT, THE MOTHER OF HARLOTS AND ABOMINATIONS OF THE EARTH. And I saw the woman drunken with the blood of the saints, and with the blood of the martyrs of Jesus: and when I saw her, I wondered with great admiration. And the angel said unto me, wherefore didst thou marvel? I will tell thee the mystery of the woman, and of the beast that carrieth her, which hath the seven heads and ten horns.”

End-time prophecy pundits also argue that Pope Francis’s alleged leftist tendencies identify him as the “False Prophet” described in Revelation 19:19-20.

“And I saw the beast and the kings of the earth and their armies assembled to make war against Him who sat on the horse and against His army. And the beast was taken, and with him the false prophet that wrought miracles before him, with which he deceived them that had received the mark of the beast, and them that worshipped his image. These both were cast alive into a lake of fire burning with brimstone.”

What this means in the eschatological scheme of evangelicals is that Pope Francis and the Roman Catholic Church will play a role in the coalition of the forces of evil against “true” Christians (that is, evangelical Christians) and the state of Israel during the period of the “Great Tribulation” preceding the Second Coming of Jesus.

Evangelical Christians believe that the state of Israel is central to biblical end-time events that will usher in Armageddon, the final apocalyptic battle between the cosmic forces of good and evil. Biblical end-time conspiracy theorists also believe that left-leaning progressives who support the statehood of Palestine and criticize Israel’s policy in the Middle East are part of the coalition of the New World Order (NWO) forces of evil that will fight Israel and Jesus at the Second Coming.

However, many end-time pundits say there aren’t any clear indications yet about the identity of the “Beast” or “Antichrist,” the major player in biblical end-time events. While some have speculated that it could be President Barrack Obama, others deny it, saying that the Beast, identified cryptically by the number 666, is yet to be revealed.

Is Obama the antichrist?

Regardless, evangelical analysts of Middle East affairs say that the latest move by the Holy See will lend legitimacy to the struggle for statehood by the Palestinian Authority under Mahmoud Abbas.

The Palestinian authorities have embarked on a strategy to move beyond the stalled U.S.-sponsored peace negotiations with Israel by seeking international support. The Palestinian Authority (PA) won a nonmember observer state status for Palestine in the U.N. in 2012.

Palestinian analysts described the Vatican announcement as a significant victory because of the international stature of Pope Francis and the global influence of the Catholic Church.

The New York Times quotes a senior Palestinian official saying that “The Vatican is not just a state. The Vatican represents hundreds of millions of Christians worldwide, including Palestinians, and has vast moral significance.”

Meanwhile, the Israeli authorities watch with growing concern the widening acceptance of the legitimacy of the Palestinian quest for statehood by the international community. The United Nations and several European states have made clear their acceptance of the legitimacy of the aspiration of the Palestinians for independent statehood.

Several European parliaments passed resolutions supportive of Palestinian statehood last year.

Israel’s foreign ministry expressed disappointment at the decision by the Vatican and said it would not “advance the peace process.”

Salon reports that David Harris, head of the American Jewish Committee, said the decision by the Vatican to recognize Palestine, “a state that, in reality, does not yet exist, is a regrettable move, counterproductive to all who seek true peace between Israel and the Palestinians.”

The statement by Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu before the March 17 elections that he would not support a peace agreement that leads to the establishment of a Palestinian state has only helped to increase skepticism in the global community about the commitment of his government to the two-state solution.

Following Netanyahu’s statement, the Obama administration threatened to “reassess” U.S. relations with Israel, while several European countries increased pressure on the Israeli authorities to end the occupation of the West Bank.

However, the Vatican announcement did not come as a surprise to those who have followed the development of the relationship between the Holy See and the PA since 2012 after the U.N. officially recognized Palestinian statehood.

Negotiations that culminated in Wednesday’s announcement have been on since 2012.

The Vatican announced the new treaty only days before Pope Francis was due to canonize two Palestinian nuns, Marie Alphonsine Ghattas and Mariam Bawardy.

Not once over the last 2,000 years has the Vatican endorsed Muslim control of the Holy Land. Why now?

First Cuba, now the Palestinians. Pope Francis is a man on a mission. But what is his mission exactly? The rhetoric and body language, the gracious gestures, the incessant smiles and compliments give the impression of a selfless leader determined to broker peace, cooperation and tranquillity. In Cuba, Israel, and all over this chaotic, disunited planet.

But consider the decisions and actions. In both Cuba and Israel, the Vatican is creating tension, disunity and instability that are likely to lead to conflict and war.

Yesterday the Vatican revealed that it had formally recognized the “state of Palestine” in a newly finalized treaty with the Palestinians. (Pope Francis and the Vatican had previously supported the “state of Palestine,” but never formally like this). The treaty defines the Catholic Church’s activities in areas controlled by the Palestinians, and will be signed by both sides this Saturday when Palestinian Authority President Mahmoud Abbas visits the Vatican.

Critics of Israel and patrons of Palestinian statehood are elated. The movement to recognize a Palestinian state has gained momentum in recent years, particularly within the United Nations; an endorsement from the pope and the Vatican is huge. Time will tell, but gaining the support of the most respected and admired leader on Earth could be just what is needed to get the project of Palestinian statehood over the finish line.

For the Jewish state and its declining number of supporters, the Vatican’s decision was an enormous blow. “This move does not promote the peace process and distances the Palestinian leadership from returning to direct and bilateral negotiations,” Israel’s foreign minister said in a text message to the Associated Press.

Indeed. In return for its vital support of Palestinian statehood, the Vatican required absolutely nothing from the Palestinians. There was no requirement of the Palestinian Authority (PA) to sincerely engage in peace talks with Israel, no demand that it recognize Israel’s right to exist, and no demand that it sever its connection with Hamas and publicly renounce Hamas’s ambitions. Nothing.

“The one thing we can be sure it won’t do is to improve the chances for peace,”explained Jonathon Tobin, senior online editor for Commentary magazine. “By granting the Palestinians official recognition without first requiring them to make peace with Israel, Pope Francis and the church have only made it less likely that this will ever happen” (emphasis added throughout). Others were more dramatic. Abraham Foxman, national director of the Anti-Defamation League, released a statement saying that the Vatican’s action “serves to undermine the only real solution to the decades-old conflict.”

Mort Klein, president of the Zionist Organization of America, warned that the Vatican’s endorsement of Palestinian statehood is a sign of the resurgence of “THE HISTORICAL CATHOLIC ENMITY TOWARDS JEWS.”

That remark by Klein is really worth thinking about. Pope Francis and the Vatican are selling this decision as a routine gesture of goodwill toward the Palestinians, and a decision that could even jump-start the peace process. Don’t buy it. The Vatican’s endorsement of the Palestinian cause will add major momentum to the international movement toward Palestinian statehood. This will pile more pressure on Israel to make more concessions, even to the detriment of its existence. And when and if Israel refuses to concede, it is certain to be held responsible for the inevitable tension and conflict.

The Israeli-Palestinian peace process is destined to end in conflict—and the Vatican’s decision brings that day nearer.

The timing is interesting too. Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu was recently reelected and just last week finalized a coalition government that could be more hardline than the previous. Going forward, Israel’s government—justifiably, reasonably and wisely—will continue to be extremely cautious about any sort of peace deal with the Palestinians. Israel’s prime minister is trying to slow the momentum toward Palestinian statehood, convince nations that the PA cannot be trusted, and persuade the international community to demand more from the Palestinians in return for statehood. The Vatican’s announcement undermines all this and makes Prime Minister Netanyahu’s job much more difficult. It was a veiled message to Israel’s conservative government: Don’t get too excited, and don’t get too comfortable.

Imagine Netanyahu sitting down to discuss the peace process with another world leader. Pope Francis supports Palestinian statehood without any demands on the Palestinians, why shouldn’t I? Mr. Netanyahu could hear that refrain from pretty much every world leader he meets. And as long as he refuses to accept a deal in which the other side is not required to alter its genocidal ambitions, Israel’s prime minister will be maligned and ostracized.

It’s also worth recalling the Balkan wars, scenes of which dominated our television screens during the early 1990s. The Vatican, together with Germany, played a key role in instigating Yugoslavia’s dissolution and the long and brutal conflicts that erupted. How? By being one of the first to formally recognize—despite strong opposition from the United States, the European Union and the UN—the breakaway regions of Croatia and Slovenia as independent and sovereign states. Most of the international community dutifully followed along. Within months, the Balkan Peninsula was on fire (for more information on this critical history, read our free booklet Germany’s Conquest of the Balkans).

Will we see similar tension and conflict erupt in Israel as a result of the Vatican’s support of the Palestinians? It seems inevitable.

Consider one last thought. Isn’t it odd that Pope Francis and the Vatican seem to be supporting Muslim control of parts of Jerusalem?

I can’t think of a single moment over the past 2,000 years when the Vatican sincerely endorsed Muslim control of Jerusalem. I can, however, recall multiple occasions when the Vatican riled up Catholic warriors and dispatched them to the Holy Land to wrest control from the Muslims. Why would Pope Francis reject two millennia of Catholic history—even rejecting Catholic doctrine and tradition—and support Muslim sovereignty in the Holy Land? That’s just really odd.

Actually, Pope Francis and the Vatican do not support the presence of Muslims in Jerusalem any more than they do the presence of Jews.

There are two simple reasons the Vatican, for now, is making it appear that it supports a Palestinian state and greater Muslim influence over Jerusalem.

First, it undermines Israel’s control over the Holy Land. When it comes to diminishing Israel’s grip on Jerusalem and its holy sites, the Vatican is quite happy for the Palestinians to do the gritty work. An honest assessment of Palestinian leadership and governance, at least up till now, reveals endemic corruption, mismanagement, infighting and internal strife. Can the Palestinians successfully create a stable, prosperous, safe Palestinian state in Israel? Slim chance.

Second, the Vatican’s endorsement of Palestinian statehood provides ideal cover for its own ambition to wrest control of Jerusalem from the Jews and Muslims.

Reading about the treaty that will be signed this Saturday, one can’t help but wonder: Has the Vatican come to some kind of quid pro quo with the Palestinians? Jerusalem is as important and meaningful to the Catholic Church as Rome itself, probably more so. There are many sites that the Catholic Church considers highly valuable. What has the PA agreed to cede to the Vatican in return for its endorsement of Palestinian statehood? This is conjecture. But this is the way politics, international relations and human nature work. People, nations, even most religions, will feign friendship and peace in pursuit of their goals.

Four years ago, Italian journalist Giulio Meotti, writing for Arutz Sheva, explained how Catholic authorities had “increased their political initiatives for Catholic control over some sites in Jerusalem.” He recalled, for example, how the head of the Vatican’s Council for Interreligious Dialogue, Cardinal Jean-Louis Tauran, had said that “peace negotiations in the Middle East must tackle the issue of the status of the holy sites of Jerusalem.” According to Tauran, the time had arrived for some of Jerusalem’s holy places, including the City of David, to be put under Vatican charge. After all, “it’s practically just the Holy See who is concerned about [Jerusalem],” Tauran stated.

Stories like this are pretty unusual. We don’t often read about the Vatican’s love for Jerusalem and its quest for more control. But it’s there, and it’s thriving. The Vatican is not a non-threatening, neutral third party in this conflict—though so much of the news media believes it is. History shows that Jerusalem is as important to the Vatican as it is to Jews and Muslims. For Catholics, Jerusalem is the birthplace of Christianity and the setting of many important biblical events. The Holy City, as Catholic dogma states, is its universal headquarters.

Does anyone really think the Vatican genuinely wants to cede control of these sites to Muslims?

We need to look past the handshakes and platitudes, and really think about what is going on here. This decision is part of a Trojan horse strategy by which the Vatican seeks to gain the trust of the Palestinians and international community before more actively staking its claim to Jerusalem and its holy sites. Whatever happens, the last thing we can expect is for the Vatican to stand by and cheer as Muslims assume control of Christianity’s holy sites. That is never going to happen.

In fact, putting Jerusalem under “international” control has been the Vatican’s strategy for decades. In 1949, the British plenipotentiary minister (essentially, the ambassador) to the Vatican, John Victor Perowne, wrote that “the Vatican would have preferred, from the point of view of the fate of the holy places and of Catholic interests in Palestine generally, that neither Jews nor Arabs, but a third power, should have control in the Holy Land. Such a solution it well knew, however, was unattainable, and in the actual circumstances it preferred the Arabs to the Jews.”

So here is what is likely to happen, at least in some form. This decision by the Vatican will embolden the Palestinians in their quest for Jerusalem, further ostracize the Jewish state, and increase tensions between Israel and the Palestinians, perhaps to the point of conflict (more terrorist attacks, etc.). As the situation deteriorates, Israel will continue to look for foreign assistance and support. Relations with its traditional allies, America and Britain, are rapidly deteriorating, and these countries have hardly any appetite for supporting Israel, at least in any meaningful way. Russia and China are more on the side of the Muslims than the Jews. Israel will find itself left with one option: crying out to Germany and Europe.

It’s true that Europeans and their leaders aren’t especially fond of Jews and the Jewish state. Then again, Germany, at least its chancellor, is arguably the closest friend and ally Israel has right now. Expect Israel to cry out to Germany for assistance. THIS IS PRECISELY THE RESPONSE THE VATICAN IS SEEKING!

The European Union and the Vatican both have the same official goal for Jerusalem. They want it to be an international city—controlled neither by Jews nor Arabs, but rather by some third party.

Why does the Vatican want this? In his book Christians and Jews: Faith to Faith, Rabbi James Rudin wrote that the Eastern Orthodox churches that own the majority of Jerusalem’s sacred Christian sites oppose internationalizing the city because it “would give greater control of Jerusalem’s Christian sites and institutions to the Roman Catholic Church, which has significant influence in Europe and the Western Hemisphere.”

It doesn’t take much imagination to see the Vatican being given the chief seat in how an “international” Jerusalem is governed! (After all, Pope Francis just brokered peace between America and Cuba.)

Israel is dead against this right now. But as it becomes more isolated and its situation becomes desperate, its resolve will start to crumble.

Of course, this is just one possible scenario. However it happens, the Vatican’s ambitions in Jerusalem are well documented. It desperately seeks greater control over Jerusalem, and every step it takes in its diplomacy with Israel and the Palestinian Arabs is dedicated to this end.

“Keep your nose to the ground and your eyes to the sky!”

By

The Vatican is not a technophobe, as evidenced by its installation of solar panels way back in 2008. It’s also not an xenophobe, either, as evidenced by statements this week by its official astronomer.

Shades of The X-Files.

Father Guy Consolmagno, the official Vatican astronomer, said he will be happy to give his blessing to any potential extraterrestrials, and will also baptize them. Only, however, if they ask for it.

Lest some humans do a double-take, Consolmagno issued assurances that “Every entity, regardless of how many tentacles it has, can have a soul.” We are not sure if he is including octopi and squid, or even sea anemones, in that list of entities.

If some are surprised by these words, it may be because they have had their noses stuck too long in the unreal faith-versus-science debate. Perhaps American Evangelicals espousing creationism have skewed the notion of what a sane, faith-infused attitude can look like.

Father Consolmagno –– and official Catholic teaching –– does not, in fact, scoff at cosmic possibilities suggested by science. The Vatican long ago stated that the theory of evolution is not incompatible with Catholic doctrine, and it no longer has issues with the Earth being a tiny speck in the vast cosmic void whose boundaries are unknown. That was way back in 2008.

Sentient aliens –– even ones with tentacles –– might very well be one of a myriad of God’s soul-infused creations. As a matter of fact, the Vatican has no issue with animals of any sort having souls –– albeit probably not spiritual souls, as in the case of humans.

So the Vatican, perhaps, may be more “with it” than we give it credit for.

The secret hand-shake

A secret document prepared for Prime Minister Putin by Russia’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs is claiming that President Medvedev confirmed in his extended meeting with Pope Benedict XVI [photo right] yesterday that the new planet named Tyche (pronounced ty-kee) by NASA [NASA rendering 2nd photo right] will be appearing in the Earth’s night sky by 2012.

Though the existence of this planet had long been known to the ancients, it has only been in the past year that Western scientists have begun informing their citizens about this unprecedented event soon to occur, but who are, also, still failing to tell how catastrophic its appearance will be.

Tyche was the name coined for this ancient celestial body by the two astrophysicists proposing it for “planet” status, Daniel Whitmire and John Matese from the University of Louisiana at Lafayette.

From the United States Time Magazine article about this new planet we can further read:

“Tyche is suspected to be four times the mass of Jupiter with an orbit around 15,000 times further from the Sun than Earth’s, and 375 times further than Pluto’s. It will probably be composed mainly of hydrogen and helium, with an atmosphere just like Jupiter’s. Professor Whitmire added that the planet-in-waiting will have its own moons, like other outer planets, and its surface will be covered in colorful spots, bands and clouds.”

NASA rendering of planet Tyche.

More interesting to note, however, about the name Tyche given to this new planet is that it is also the name of the ancient Greek god governing over the destiny of mankind, and who were all long familiar with this nemesis to our Earth as best exampled by the Russian-born American independent scholar Immanuel Velikovsky in his 1945 seminal work titled “Theses for the Reconstruction of Ancient History” wherein he postulated:

Planet Earth has suffered natural catastrophes on a global scale, both before and during humankind’s recorded history.

The causes of these natural catastrophes were close encounters between the Earth and other bodies within the solar system.

There is evidence for these catastrophes in the geological record and archeological record.

The catastrophes that occurred within the memory of humankind are recorded in the myths, legends and written history of all ancient cultures and civilizations.

To the grim information reported by Medvedev to the Pope about Tyche we had previously reported on in our December 10, 2010 report Massive Earthquake Fears Rise After Mysterious Object Moves Nearer To Earth wherein we stated the warning of Doctor-Scientist Alexander Stepanov of St. Petersburg’s Pulkovo Astronomical Observatory that this massive dark Jupiter-sized object lurking at our solar system’s outer edge appears to have “accelerated” its movement towards our Earth.

To the catastrophic calamities expected to our Earth from Tyche’s appearance we had further warned about in our reports Greenland Sunrise Shocks World As Superstorms Pound Planet, Pole Shift Blamed For Russian Air Disaster, Closure Of US Airport, Poisonous Space Clouds Slamming Into Earth Cause Mass Bird And Fish Deaths and New Superstorms Warned Have ‘Doomed’ World Food Production.

Even today, this report states, our Earth is being assaulted by Tyche due to the massive Solar Flares NASA warns could disrupt electrical power grids, radio and satellite communication in the next days, and with the worst, perhaps, yet to come, and as we can read as reported by the Space.Com:

“The sun let loose its most powerful eruption in more than four years Monday night (Feb. 14), disrupting radio communications in China and generating concern around the world. But it could have been a lot worse, experts say.

Despite its strength, Monday’s solar storm was a baby compared to several previous blasts, and it provides just a hint of what the sun is capable of. A true monster storm has the potential to wreak havoc on a global scale, knocking out communications systems, endangering satellites and astronauts and causing perhaps trillions of dollars in damages.

The sun’s activity cycle is ramping up, so more storms will likely be coming our way over the next few years. The sun has grown more active over the last several months after rousing from a quiet period in its 11-year weather cycle last year.”

The concerns echoed about Tyche by Russian scientists relate to their belief in what is called the Electric Universe Theory, that though despised by their Western counterparts does, indeed, provide the most complex and holistic approach to understanding our Earth and its relationship to the Solar System.

In the United States, one of the most vocal proponents of the Electric Universe Theory is James M. McCanney, M.S. Physics, who further warns that the increase of comets and asteroids are due to Tyche’s effects too.

Though the West, especially the US and EU, continue to propagandize their citizens towards a belief in what they call Global Warming, Russian scientists state that what we are witnessing in our lifetimes is a complete “overthrowing” of our planets weather systems due to a “radical” realignment of our geomagnetic poles, and as evidenced by the rapid melting of the Arctic regions, while at the same time the largest glaciers in the world located in the Himalayas are advancing.

More ominous than the violent weather changes now occurring all over the Earth due to Tyche are the warnings given by the late Azeri-born American researcher Zecharia Sitchin (1920-2010), who in his deciphering of over 10,000 ancient Babylonian cuneiform tablets says that our ancestors name for this planet was Nibiru and was inhabited by a race of giants known as the Anunnaki.

Most important to note about the Anunnaki were that they are credited by our ancient ancestors of being “the gods, who not only made mankind, but have protected their “creation” for thousands of year at each “overturning” of our world.

With nearly each passing day it is, also, important to note that the prophecies contained in our ancient ancestors “myths and legends” are coming alive in the headlines we read, and none more important than the Motherlands (Russia) historic 7,000-kilometre journey across the Arctic Ocean, and as explained in the Sorcha Faal’s important work Battle Begins For Throne of This World: The Return of the Einherjar Warriors, that shows proof of the seer Nostradamus’ Quatrain 6 Verse 21 saying:

“When those of the arctic pole are united together,

Great terror and fear in the East:

Newly elected, the great trembling supported,

Rhodes, Byzantium stained with Barbarian blood.”

And today, indeed, “great terror and fear” is erupting throughout the East, while at the same time the Iranian-Persian leader, Mahmoud Ahmadinejad, has told his people that the Mahdi (the Muslim version of the Christian’s Messiah) is “now in charge of Global affairs”, and Russia has signed new Arctic treaties with Norway and Finland.

The great American and French Revolutionary leader Thomas Paine (1737-1809) was wrote, “These are the times that try men’s souls”, and as it was then, so it is again, the only difference being that between his time and ours, people once knew how to know truth, today, and sadly, they no longer do.
